Welcome to Our Web Page

When this web page began more than twenty years ago, it described most of the activities of our whole family. Now that most of our children have flown the coop, it is mostly about what Ann and I (Dave) have been up to. I update it most weekends. We save all the messages over the past year in an Archive along with links to what we were doing ten and twenty years ago.

You can click on the pictures above to get a bit more information about each of us.

Feltzen South

Feltzen South

Today is David's birthday so Ann and I were up fairly early to make Eggs Benedict for breakfast. Ann then disappeared to volunteer doing taxes at the library. She did the same last Thursday and Friday as well.

While Ann was doing taxes on Friday, I went to play bridge with my friend and ex-colleague Layton in a tournament in Truro. We only played in one session and did fairly well coming in 5th out of 49 pairs, 2nd out of the 24 East-West pairs (who all play the same hands), and 2nd out of the 19 pairs with a similar number of masterpoints as us.

On Saturday, Ann and I drove to Lunenburg to ride with the Ramblers down to Riverport, stopping in Rose Bay for lunch at the Rose Bay General Store & Bistro, before returning to Lunenburg with a side trip to Feltzen South. It was a cool, overcast day with a threat of some sprinkles — which never arrived — so there was a small turn-out: only seven of us. Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable ride through a beautiful part of the province.

When the ride was over, we went out to Ingrid and Mike's cottage on Heckman's Island and set up their loft for an overnight stay. We then went with Ingrid (Mike was not feeling well so stayed home in Halifax) to the Bluenose Lodge for a dinner theatre performance of Sweet Ride, a musical about four women who rode from Mahone Bay to Charlottetown in 1943 to see Don Messer and the Islanders performing their radio show. On Sunday morning, Ingrid fed us breakfast, we lazed around a bit, then packed up a headed home stopping on the way for coffee with our friend Sarah at her place near Mader's Cove on the outskirts of Mahone Bay.

We were also out with Ingrid and Mike on Thursday evening, first having pizza at Trattoria Vesso, then going to Neptune to see Casey and Diana, a surprisingly enjoyable play about an AIDS hospice in Toronto anticipating a visit from Princess Diana.

Last Wednesday, we went for our first ride of the season with the Roadents on the usual route from Laurie Park to Monte Vista though we bucked tradition by stopping for coffee on the way back at Aroma Mayo in Enfield instead of at the Tim's by the Big Stop.

As I write this we are watching the election results come in. At the moment, with only the Atlantic provinces reporting, it is looking much better for the Conservatives than I would like but it is still early days.
